Navigating Uncertainty

Tuesday 8 October
10:20 - 11:50

Uncertainty has become one of 2019’s defining themes. Amid an escalating U.S. - China trade war and Brexit uncertainty the IMF has reduced its global growth forecast for 2019 and 2020 to 3.2% and 3.5% respectively - warning that growth in Africa could more than halve from an expected 3.5%.

This session will explore the implications of this for business, focused on gaining practical insights from leading CEOs on how to navigate this growing uncertainty.

Key themes/issues to explore:

  • How is Africa being affected by growing global uncertainty? Should business be worried?

  • Should we expect a dip in investment on the continent?

  • How might the Continental Free Trade Agreement help business mitigate the impact of uncertainty?

  • As a leading CEO, what is your strategy for ensuring continued growth in the face of a dimming growth outlook?
