Tuesday 8 October
13:15 - 14:15

With more than 600m Africans estimated to still lack access to electricity, energy is one of the biggest brakes on growth and development on the continent. Bridging this gap will need $60bn - $90bn annually according to the African Development Bank. New, innovative approaches and sources of energy are needed to address this key challenge.

This Seminar explores practical strategies to mobilize the funding needed to make a meaningful impact on Africa’s power shortage.

Key topics of discussion include:

  • The renewables revolution - an answer to Africa’s power gap?

  • Innovative financing solutions.

  • What is the role of traditional energy sources like hydrocarbons? Can Africa fix its electricity shortage without them?
