Mr. Ashish J. Thakkar is the CEO and founder of Mara Group. He began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 15 as a high school student in Uganda selling computers to his schoolmates. Today, Mara Group is a diversified pan-African conglomerate with interests in property development, infrastructure, asset management and agriculture, operating in 22 African countries. Mara Foundation, Mara Group’s non-profit arm, focuses on entrepreneurship and education. Mr. Thakker is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Africa and Chair of the UN Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council.
